Med Spa Marketing HQ

Questions med spa owners ask about marketing

Straight answers on reviews and HIPAA, Meta before and after rules, Google Ads on injectable names, memberships, consult conversion, the benchmark data and the free trial.

How many Google reviews does a med spa need?

More than the three clinics you appear next to on a phone. Across 53,312 listings the median is 50 reviews and 34.3% sit under 25. In a competitive metro the clinics holding the map pack are usually past 100, which only 33.6% of med spas have reached. A realistic target is one new review for every four completed treatments, asked for at checkout. The reviews guide has the scripts.

Why does Meta keep rejecting my before and after photos?

Because Meta's advertising policy restricts cosmetic procedure and body-image content, and side-by-side before and after imagery is the clearest trigger in the whole rulebook. It is not a glitch and appealing rarely fixes it. The workable path is single-frame result photos in a natural setting, client testimonial video with no split screen, injector-on-camera education, and offer creative that never zooms in on the treated area. Details in the Meta and Instagram ads guide.

Can I run Google Ads on Botox and filler brand names?

You can bid on them in most cases, but Google's healthcare and medicines policy restricts how prescription drug terms are used in ad text and landing pages, and certification requirements vary by country and by product. The safe structure is to bid on the branded search terms, write ad copy about the treatment category and the consult rather than the drug, and keep dosing, pricing per unit and medical claims off the landing page. See the Google Ads guide.

How do I reply to reviews without a HIPAA problem?

Never confirm that the person was a patient, never name a treatment, never reference anything in their chart. That rules out most of the friendly replies clinics want to write. A compliant reply reads: "Thank you for the kind words. Our team appreciates it." For a negative review: "We take this seriously and would like to speak with you directly. Please call the clinic and ask for the manager." Then move the conversation off the platform. Confirm your policy with your own counsel.

My consults are full but treatments are not. What is wrong?

Almost always the consult itself. A consult that ends with "here is a quote, think it over" converts far worse than one that ends with a treatment plan, a price for phase one, and a card taken for a deposit on a scheduled date. The other common cause is a consult booked more than four days out. Aesthetic intent decays fast. Same-week consults close better than next-month consults by a wide margin.

Are memberships worth it for a small clinic?

Yes, and they change the marketing math more than any ad platform will. A member who pays monthly and banks credit toward treatments comes back on a schedule instead of on impulse, which flattens your slow months and raises lifetime value enough to justify a much higher acquisition cost. Start with one tier, priced at roughly the value of a monthly facial or a partial neurotoxin treatment, and add tiers only after 30 members. The pricing and memberships guide covers the structure.

What should Instagram actually be doing for the clinic?

Two jobs. First, it is the proof layer: prospects who find you on Google check the grid before they call, and an abandoned account costs you bookings. Second, it is the cheapest source of warm demand you have, through retargeting and through the injector's own face on camera. Treat it as a channel with a posting standard and a monthly ad budget, not as a hobby the front desk does when they have a minute.

How do I show up when someone asks ChatGPT for a med spa near them?

The answer engines lean on the same signals as Google plus clear, quotable text. A complete Google profile with the right primary category, consistent name and address across directories, a website that states each treatment and each city in plain sentences, real reviews that name specific services, and a few third-party mentions. The AI search guide walks through it.

What does a med spa lead actually cost?

Google Ads on treatment intent terms typically runs $30 to $90 per lead in a mid-sized metro and higher in Los Angeles, Miami or New York. Meta and Instagram offer campaigns run $12 to $45 per lead but produce softer leads that need real follow-up. The number that matters is not cost per lead but cost per treatment performed, which is usually three to five times the lead cost once consult no-shows are counted.

Is the benchmark data trustworthy?

It is public data collected at scale, so it is good to within a point or two, not to the decimal. Listings are deduplicated by Google place ID and refreshed monthly. Category overlap is the main limitation: some listings in the set are traditional spas rather than medical practices. Google does not publish this data itself, which is why we compute it.

Where does the benchmark data come from?

Public Google Business Profile listings found through Google Maps searches for med spas and aesthetic clinics in every state. Only public business fields are stored: review count, rating, website link, hours, category and location. No reviewer names, no patient data, nothing behind a login. The full method is on the about page.

What is included in the free 14-day trial?

Any one of the services we run, or several at once: Google Ads management, Meta and Instagram ads, AI search optimization, local SEO and Google Business Profile work, website design, social media management, review generation, missed-call text-back and consult follow-up, email and SMS campaigns, bookkeeping, and cold-call appointment setting. Setup, management and reporting are included. Ad spend paid to Google or Meta, if you choose to run ads, is yours.

What happens after 14 days?

You decide. Keep the service at the monthly price quoted before the trial starts, switch to a different one, or stop. Nothing renews on its own and nothing is charged during the trial. If you stop, the accounts, creative and audiences stay in your ownership.

Do I need to give a credit card?

No. There is no card on file at any point during the trial. What we ask for is access to the accounts involved and about 20 minutes for a setup call. Start on the free trial page or use the calculator first if you want to see where the money is leaking.
